G'day, Guest It's nice to hear from someone on OZ land.
Yeah, now that you have some Dozier knives coming it's best to stay alive to enjoy them. Get the hell out of that high pressure job BEFORE IT KILLS YOU!

Ciao

I can imagine that getting old is no fun.

Everyone has to age, and eventually pass on. My father said when my mother passed away "If no one passed on, there would be no room for new babies".

Of course you are not exactly on death's bed, Bob. You have many great years ahead of you, even if your body is not in the shape it was when you were 21. However, you are wiser and more experienced. You cannot gain those traits without spending the years. I think time is better enjoyed when one is wise and experienced rather than young, fast, and dumb.

Always keep in mind that your work will be used and loved by generations to come. Your knives and their legacy will outlast your physical body.

Thank you Bob.

I turned 62 in March. To me, at least, the hardest part was te morning of Sept.12, 2001 when I contacted every military recruiter in town and none of them would let me back in.

They were glad to have me in 1961, :D but they wouldn't take me back in 2001. :(

I guess logically, I can undertand it, but emotionally, I still can't get over it.

I used to work as a surgical Tech in the operating room out in Colorado, and one day we were working on a man that fell off his horse elk hunting and broke his hip. He was 104 years old. Age is all a matter of mind, if you don't mind it doesn't matter. At 49 I am already starting to feel the aches and pains I had hoped I would never encounter. I am going out kicking and screaming and having a good time in the mean time.

Got married about 6 months ago. I'll be 73 this year. Reckon I'm just getting the hang of it now. Got a Dozier Classic coming in a month or so. It took until I got this old for life to get this good, so getting old isn't all bad.

Mr. Dozier

I read the post, about getting old. All of you arent and have many days left. To get old what you need is my body. I am a retired Lt. firefighter, now to get you need three back surgerys. That is one way to get old. Next is right knee for surgerys, next is a left knee. May need surgyer on my c-6 in neck. I will be 65 in July.

Yep you got it right, it was a four alarm arson fire. One ladder truck and four fire engines.

That is old

Joseph

I'll be 58 in Oct. and i moved to the country 6 yrs. ago. people say what do you do there don't you get bored. I have more to do here than ever in town, better community and love the work, quiet and nature. We burn wood 100% for the house and shop and i feel that when you quit working that is when you die. My folks are going to be 79 this year and still cut and split their own wood and use no backup except a couple of weeks to visit my brother. Don't worry about getting old, just keep going!!!!

All I've got to say about getting older is that it's a good thing we're so good lookin' or we'd be in real trouble.

Been over six years since I posted on this topic.
Heart Bypass, ruptured colon, I could go on, but suffice it to say getting old aint for sissies. I am in good shape n ow, rebuilt from spare parts, but feeling good again. Actually spent considerable time in the woods killing stuff already this year! (and I edit to say I feel better than I did six years ago.)

Getting old is necessary. It teaches us one of the great lessons of life..compassion. That's one lesson I want under my belt before I leave.
